A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology, Wake Forest University Health Sciences, Winston-Salem , NC . (WFUHS position number is 9941)

We are seeking a PhD (or equivalent degree) in Physiology (or related field) to join an active research group investigating maternal vascular vasoreactivity / remodeling during pregnancy using rodent and human models. A candidate with experience in smooth muscle physiology and vascular reactivity studies using small vessel myography is preferred. Additional experience working with translational genomic approaches is beneficial as the research project will address mechanism(s) underlying pathological complications involved with pregnancy at both the functional and genomic levels. A successful applicant is expected to work independently; therefore strong organizational as well as verbal and written communication skills are essential. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN ARGENTINA IN COLLABORATION WITH UNITED KINGDOM

WELCOME TRUST FUNDED

A postdoctoral position funded by the Wellcome Trust is open to the study synaptic transmission in the Central Nervous System in ataxic mouse generated by calcium channel ablation. Studies will be focus on the brain stem giant synapse (calyx of Held) using electrophysiological (patch clamp) techniques to study pre and postsynaptic currents. Fluorescence imaging techniques will be used to study vesicle recycling.

Required qualifications are a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biological/biomedical sciences or related field, research background in cell/molecular biology. Expertise in electrophysiology is desirable.

The position is available for 3 years at the Laboratorio de Fisiología y Biología Molecular, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires in Dr. O. D. Uchitel's research group. The salary is significantly above average argentine research salaries. The position will involve working in collaboration with Dr. Ian Forsythe's group at University of Leicester, UK.
