International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism

13th International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism – March 7-10, 2018, Valdivia, Chile – How Metabolism Dictates Neurotransmission, Function and Behavior

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 13th International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism entitled, “How Metabolism Dictates Neurotransmission, Function and Behavior”, which will be held at the Centro de Estudios Científicos CECs, Valdivia, Chile, on March 7-10, 2018.

Our aim is to bring together a select group of leading experts, clinicians, emerging young scientists and students interested in brain energy metabolism. Lectures and discussions will cover latest developments in research related to metabolite trafficking, enzyme and transporter regulation, brain cell heterogeneity, new in vitro and non-invasive imaging techniques, and the tight reciprocal coupling between brain energy metabolism and information processing.

Traditionally, these meetings provide a forum for very lively and informative discussions after the talks and during free time and poster sessions. Student and fellow participation is strongly encouraged, and travel awards for a limited number of young scientists will be available.

The conference will be held at the Carpa de la Ciencia of the Centro de Estudios Científicos, located in the scenic and historic city of Valdivia, 800 km south of Santiago. Registration covers hotel accommodation, meals and other expenses, including an excursion to a template forest reserve, boat trip and farewell dinner.

Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to participate in the Brain Energy Metabolism meeting. Any participants who have special needs are requested to make their requirements known to the organizers so that every effort can be made to address these needs.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Valdivia in March 2018.
